Dr. Jasmeet Bains is a family doctor who has dedicated her life to confronting health inequities. Dr. Bains is a Guardian of Public Health candidate, answering the call to serve her community as 314 Action works to elect 100 new doctors, nurses and health care professionals to office by 2030.
After medical school, Dr. Bains returned to practice medicine in the community that raised her. She became the Chief Medical Officer for the Central Valley on the California Medical Assistance Team and became Chair of the California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission. After years of fighting COVID-19 on the frontlines, she ran and won a seat in the State Legislature while continuing to see patients in clinics on the weekends.
Now, she is running in CA-22, which has one of the highest Medicaid enrollment counts in the nation. CA-22 also presents Democrats with one of their best red-to-blue opportunities on the map this election – following the passage of Proposition 50 in California, political forecasters at Sabato’s Crystal Ball have shifted this race from “Leans Republican” to “Toss-Up” status.
