314 Action Fund will go all-in to support California’s redistricting efforts and elect STEM candidates to replace 5 vulnerable Republicans

314 Action Fund today announced its $1 million campaign to support California’s redistricting efforts and elect STEM candidates across five California districts. The pro-science PAC has played a major role in cycle after cycle, raising and spending over $70 million and supporting more than 500 candidates since its inception in 2016. Following California Governor Newsom’s press conference today, 314 Action Executive Director Erik Polyak released the following statement:

“If Republicans go nuclear in Texas, we will stand by California Democrats and join the fight to block Trump’s takeover and win back the House with a seven-figure commitment to fundraise and field candidates in California.

“314 Action Fund will combine digital fundraising, candidate recruitment efforts, independent expenditures and mobilize our network of six million grassroots supporters to replace Republicans with Democratic scientists and doctors in five target California districts.

“314 Action held the line in California in 2024—and we’ll do it again. Last year, we recruited and elected George Whitesides in CA-27 and in 2026, we have already begun working with candidates in vulnerable Republican districts including CA-22, where Dr. Jasmeet Bains is running to defeat Rep. David Valadao—a district with 68% of constituents who rely on Medi-Cal, the most Medicaid recipients in the country.

”Our track record shows that STEM candidates are the most trusted among votersespecially when it comes to health care, giving 314 candidates a clear advantage going into the midterms. There’s too much on the line to play by old rules. This is our chance to elect more Democratic doctors and scientists to Congress and take back the House.”
