Dr. Maxine Dexter’s win in the 3rd Guarantees a Seat in Congress

State Rep. Janelle Bynum’s Victory in the 5th Sets up Critical November Battle

Dr. Steiner Poised to Become the First Woman ever Elected as State Treasurer

(Philadelphia, PA) – Scientists and STEM candidates scored major victories across Oregon during Tuesday’s Democratic primaries, including races for State Treasurer and the U.S. House. The resounding victories for candidates backed by 314 Action Fund underscored public support for candidates running with STEM backgrounds who use data and follow the facts to make informed decisions.

“At a time when science is under attack, we need more scientists like Maxine Dexter and Janelle Bynum in the room making critical decisions about our reproductive rights, healthcare access and climate protections,” said 314 Action Founder and President, Shaughnessy Naughton.

“We’re honored to help Dr. Maxine Dexter secure the Democratic nomination for Congress in Oregon’s 3rd district and can’t wait to see Maxine elected to Congress this November,” continued Naughton. “As a doctor, state representative, and an experienced progressive, she will get results in Washington.”

“Our work in Oregon’s 5th District has just begun with Janelle Bynum’s resounding victory on Tuesday night. Janelle is a proven leader and a trained electrical engineer who has taken a fact based approach to her work as a proven state legislator. Janelle has defeated incumbent Lori Chavez-DeRemer twice and we look forward to helping Janelle beat her a third time and flip the House this November.”

“We’re looking forward to helping Dr. Elizabeth Steiner make history this November as the first woman ever elected as Oregon’s State Treasurer. As State Treasurer, she’ll invest in healthcare, housing, a secure retirement, and promote healthy communities to move Oregon forward.”
