Dr. Hiral Tipirneni is a former emergency room physician who would be the first woman of color ever elected to Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. Hiral is running in AZ-06, which is a top target for Democrats to flip in 2020. Her opponent, Republican Congressman David Schweikert, has been under a years-long ethics investigation for allegedly using official taxpayer resources to benefit his campaign, including a trip to the Super Bowl.
Hiral immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was three years old. She received her medical degree through Northeast Ohio Medical University and worked as the Chief Resident of the University of Michigan’s Emergency Medicine program. For over 20 years, Hiral has served the residents of Phoenix in the emergency departments of several hospitals. She also recently earned a position on the Maricopa Health Foundation.
